Avril April 21, In the Sixth Arrondissement, a Shopping Gem By Marguerite Suozzi Catherine B. Currently for sale at the Catherine B. consignment store, from left to right: Chanel earrings, 160 euros; Hermès belt; 250 euros; and a Kelly bag, 4,800 euros. PARIS | I’ve never met a vintage Chanel purse that I didn’t like, so when I stumbled upon Les 3 Marches de Catherine B., a luxury consignment shop in the sixth arrondissement, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Hidden away on rue Guisarde, this little gem is a mecca for people who appreciate classic French designers such as Chanel, Hermès. The boutique only carries “gently-used” clothing, shoes, jewelery, handbags and luggage by these three designers. There are even some couture pieces tucked inside. The boutique is divided into two storefronts, so take care not to miss one. The smaller one is dedicated to jewelery, watches, scarves and handbags, and the other one next door displays clothing, shoes and luggage. This is not a cheap store. But it’s the place to go if you are looking to make a special purchase. Some of the pieces will make you weak at the knees. Let me give you some of the highlights. On a recent visit, there were brightly patterned Hermès scarves, and Birkin and Kelly bags in abundance. I loved the collection of Chanel earrings and simple chain necklaces. There was even a three-piece Louis Vuitton luggage set. Prices ranged from anywhere between 150 to 4,000 euros, or 5 to ,200 at .30 to the euro, and beyond. But there were bargains to be found. An orange Epi leather Louis Vuitton purse was on sale for 250 euros and a stunning beige jersey Chanel handbag with a chain-link shoulder strap was on sale for 500 euros.
